Mala Beads have been around for thousands of years and have been used traditionally in Buddhism, Hinduism and Yoga. Malas can be an effective tool in a meditation practice, especially for children. Traditional Malas have 108 beads, which is a sacred and spiritual number in Buddhism. Kids Malas have half of the number of beads (54). The number is cut in half to make Malas more manageable for kids. The kids choose a positive mantra, "I am kind", "I am confident", "I am brave" and the mantra is repeated 54 times while moving from bead to bead on the necklace. The necklaces have their energy cleared with Palo Santo (a tree that is related to Frankincense) before being shipped to their new owner. Palo Santo is known for its healing and energy cleansing benefits.
